About My Human Index

My Human Index is a collection of short browser-based tests of cognitive and motor ability. Each one gives you a single number and a percentile; together they roll up into your Human Index score.

The Human Index

Your Human Index is the mean of your best percentile across every scored test you have completed at least once, on a 0 to 100 scale. Some tests measure an approach rather than an ability, and those are left out so a different style is not treated as a weakness. Do more tests and the index becomes a more rounded picture. It is one shareable number, not a precise measurement.

How your data is handled

  • Everything runs in your browser. There is no account and no server.
  • Your scores and history are saved in this browser's local storage.
  • Percentiles compare you against a bundled reference sample seeded from published norms.

What it is not

None of these tests are clinical or diagnostic instruments. Scores are affected by your hardware, environment, sleep, mood and practice. The most useful comparison is against your own past runs on the same device.

Tests available now

  • Tap Speed & APM - How fast can you tap for 10 seconds? Reports taps per second and a StarCraft-style actions-per-minute figure.
  • Multiple Object Tracking - Keep your eyes on a set of identical moving dots as distractors weave through them. Finds how many you can track at once.
  • Time Estimation - Start and stop a hidden timer to hit target durations from 3 to 13 seconds. Measures how accurately you can track a short interval.
  • Reverse Digit Span - Watch a run of digits, then type them back in reverse order. The sequence grows until you slip - how long can you hold?
  • Stroop Test - Name the ink colour, not the word. Measures how much a conflicting word slows you down - your interference cost.
  • Trail Making A/B - Connect 1-2-3 in order, then 1-A-2-B alternating. Times how fast you search and switch between two sequences.
  • Change Blindness - A scene flickers and something changes each cycle. Spot it and click it. Measures how fast you notice what shifted.
  • Number Sense - Two clouds of dots flash by - which colour had more? Finds the ratio at which your approximate-number sense breaks down.
